Emily, like most girls, loves to shop. For her wish-come-true, she chose to have a shopping spree and learned what it truly means to “shop ‘till you drop!” She shared that there was only one rule that day: “to have fun!”
On the morning of Emily’s wish, she was picked up in a limo and chauffeured to Clackamas Town Center where she was treated like a star, complete with a red-carpet welcome, makeover and shopping frenzy at Macy’s. What makes Emily’s wish even more special is that it was granted on her 13th birthday. After Make-A-Wish posted about her birthday wish on Facebook, nearly 2,000 people sent her birthday messages and words of encouragement throughout the day.
Emily is a huge fan of Hello Kitty, so she was always on the lookout for Hello Kitty themed items all day. After her morning at Macy’s, she went to the Sanrio store where she found just what she was searching for – backpacks, school supplies, accessories, a wallet, a watch, and more – all Hello Kitty. She then went to GameStop for a Nintendo DS3, games and accessories, followed by Claire’s Boutique where they welcomed her with a Happy Birthday sign and gift certificate. The first item she bought with the gift card was a tiara, fit for the sweet princess she is, along with countless earrings and accessories to wear with it.
After a delicious lunch at Red Robin, the wish continued at Target where Emily filled three shopping carts with everything a girl could ever want. On the way to her last stop of the day, she was surprised with a visit to Fred Meyer Jewelers for her official birthday party. Emily’s wish was sponsored by Jewelers for Children, a national organization supporting children’s charities. Make-A-Wish is one of four Legacy charities that Jewelers for Children supports. The Fred Meyer Jewelers store at Clackamas Town Center participated in Emily’s wish-come-true by hosting a Hello Kitty themed birthday party. Not only did they decorate and provide a beautiful cake, they presented Emily with a darling Hello Kitty necklace and earrings.
All good things sadly have to come to an end, and the final stop on Emily’s shopping spree was a trip to Build-A-Bear, where she selected the item of her choice (a pink Hello Kitty, of course) and plenty of accessories. Throughout the day, everyone was so thrilled to be part of her birthday and her wish, and Make-A-Wish Oregon would like to thank everyone for making Emily’s day so magical!
