Wish Ball Honors Local Kids’ Brave Fight Against
Life-Threatening Medical Conditions
Community invited to gala to help make wishes come true
Portland, Ore. (November 14, 2015) – Benny, 7, rode into the arena like he’d been riding horses all his life. “I was so proud of him,” said his mom.
There’s a lot to be proud of. Benny has been fighting two battles for most of his short life. He was born with Down syndrome and was diagnosed with leukemia when he was five. Cancer brought new adversities to an already challenging situation, but his parents said Benny’s Make-A-Wish experience at a dude ranch marked a turning point in his progress. Riding a horse by himself, learning new skills and making new friends boosted his spirit and motivated him to get better. “He’s doing better every day.”
Benny is one of 211 children whose lives have been changed by Make-A-Wish Oregon this year alone. You can help make wishes like his come true at the annual Wish Ball.
Wish Ball is Make-A-Wish Oregon's premier celebration of the many wishes granted, as well as those that we hope to make come true in the coming year. The gala takes place Saturday, November 14, 2015, at 8:00 p.m. at the Portland Art Museum. Throughout the evening, we will highlight some of our local wish kids. See first-hand the positive impact a wish has on a child.
